I think one of the most pointless things to do is to rank or compare artists. What kills me is when some people hate on artists such as Kid Cudi or Mac Miller because their wordplay and overall lyrical content isn’t on a “high scale intelligence level” like artists such as Lupe or Nas. When you compare artists like that, you group them all into one category. To me, that is not fair to the artists at all. Each has their own unique style, therefore each is in their own category. Some people need to start listening to artists with an open mind, not depicting whether or not the artist is going to be up to par with the rest of their idols. Not every artist is going to be wanting to spit out of the world metaphors and telling crazy stories in the most complicated way, and not every artist is going to want to keep their lyrics simple. Get that to your head.
